California Taxpayers Association President Robert Gutierrez issued the following statement regarding the California state budget for 2024-25:

“We applaud Governor Gavin Newsom for finding solutions to bridge the budget gap without new broad-based tax increases.

“State spending increased nearly $109 billion during the past three years, so the first priority must be to ensure spending is sustainable, and that the state lives within its means.

“Economic growth is far and away the best source of new state and local revenue. We urge the Legislature to follow the governor’s lead and focus on reducing the cost of living, attracting employers, and retaining the businesses and workers that are here now.”
